Eleanor is a beautiful little girl with a sweet brother to help her navigate the world!!

What did you think when you first felt your baby move?  She’s a lot more active than our first child.

What were your first thoughts when you saw your baby?  She’s here, she’s safe, she’s perfect!

What three words best describe your child?  Precious, Gift and Miracle

What songs do you sing to your baby?  Oh how I love Jesus

What books do you read to your baby?  Her big brother loves to read to her! The Very Cranky Bear, Little Blue Truck, other board books.

Does your baby have any nicknames?  Ellie Lou – short for Eleanor Lucille

What has been the most challenging part of bringing your baby home? What has been the most rewarding part?   Challenging – recovering from our unplanned C-Section. Most rewarding – lots of snuggles and watching her big brother interact with her! He loves her!

Was there anything you absolutely could not stand while you were pregnant?  Strong smells!

Did you have any cravings while you were pregnant?  Umm…fast food…Wendy’s and Taco Bell.

Did you find out the gender of your baby? If so, did you do a special gender reveal?  Yes, but we didn’t do a big reveal.

What was the best reaction you got when you shared that you were expecting?  My sister in law read Deacon’s shirt and got excited, then realized it was written in German instead of English and she laughingly said, “Awe, I thought his shirt said he was going to be a big brother!” We all had a good laugh when she was told she was correct!

How did you tell your family that you were expecting?  Deacon, Ellie’s older brother, had a shirt that said, “Best big brother in the World” it was written in German as his Dad had just returned from Germany for work.

How did your other children react when they met their new sibling?  Deacon was very excited to meet her! She brought him a present – a Tonka Bulldozer. Once he opened it he asked if Ellie had it inside of Mommy with her! :0)

If your baby has siblings, how did they respond when they found out they would be getting a new sibling?  He was very excited, but he didn’t have any idea what he was in for!

Did anything funny/unexpected happened since your baby came home?  Deacon has been a real protector for Ellie. He loves to show her off, but he doesn’t let anyone touch or hold her! He was especially protective at church!

How does your baby sleep at night?  She’s been sleeping like a rock star! The first few weeks I would have to wake her up to eat during the night. Of course, now that I say that…

What milestones has your baby reached?  Eating like crazy!

What is your favorite part of being a parent?  I enjoy seeing our little ones interact, grow, and mature! Days are never the same, challenges come and go, and a sense of accomplishment and pride comes when you see your children begin to make better choices based on conversations you’ve had with them!

What is your child’s favorite thing to do?  Eat. Sleep. Watch her older brother.

Can you tell us a funny or memorable story about your birth experience?  Several weeks before Ellie was born, Deacon has asked me where Baby Ellie was going to come out of Mommy – where was her door. I explained that she would comeback out where Mommy went potty. He was good with this and would bring it up every now and then. When we arrived at the hospital in labor we discovered she was breech and had to have an unplanned C-Section. When Deacon met Ellie he asked if she came out her “door”. We explained that she wasn’t able to. His Daddy explained that she came out the “sunroof” instead. Now Deacon is concerned about how my sunroof is healing. :0)

How did your child get their name?  Eleanor was the only name we could agree on and Lucille was my Grandmother’s middle name.
