How did Cam get his name?

It was pretty easy. I had given my husband 5 names that I liked and told him Cameron was probably my favorite and it was his favorite too. His middle name is my husband’s name.

What three words best describe Cam?

Sleepy, hungry, happy

What were your first thoughts when you saw him?

All that hair, again! My daughter had the same thick head of dark hair.

What did you think when you first felt your baby move?

Ouch! He was a lot harder mover and kicker than his sister. It’s always comforting to feel your baby move and know he is doing okay in there.

Does your baby have any nicknames? Where did they come from?

We are working on it! Our daughter’s nickname is peanut.

How did Nora react when she found out she would be getting a new sibling?

Nora just turned 2. We would talk about baby brother but I don’t think she fully understood until now.

How did Nora react when she met Cam?

My 2 year old daughter was a little confused at first in the hospital, but now she loves Cam and loves to help me feed him, change him, etc.

What books do you read to your baby?

My daughter’s favorite is Pete the Cat. I’m sure Cam has heard that one a million times in the womb.

What songs do you sing to your baby?

Sometimes I’ll sing ‘wake up little cameron, wake up'” to the tune of wake up little susie to try to get him to wake up!

What has been the most challenging part of bringing your baby home? What has been the most rewarding part?

The most challenging is getting Cam’s big sister acclimated to her new baby brother and understanding we have to be gentle.

Did you find out the gender of your baby? If so, did you do a special gender reveal?

We did, and we didn’t do a reveal, but we were very shocked to hear the words

What was the best reaction you got when you shared that you were expecting?

I think the best reactions we received was when we told people it’s a boy. My side of the family is made up of girls. To tell my mom, dad and sister that is was a boy was a lot of fun.

How did you tell your family that you were expecting?

We took my parents to dinner and the rest of our family lives outside Fort Wayne so we did a lot of Facetiming.

Did anything funny/unexpected happened since your baby came home?

I’ve been peed on more times than I can count. I’m still trying to master changing a little boy’s diaper.

Can you tell us a funny or memorable story about your birth experience?

I had Cameron 2 hours after I arrived at the hospital and my husband never had a chance to move the car from the roundabout to the parking lot. The security guard wanted him to move it close to when he arrived and I basically said NO! The funny part is when he did get to go move it, the car alarm was going off.

What is your favorite part of being a parent?

I love to watch them grow and experience things for the first time. It’s so fun to see them hit milestones and experience life through their eyes.
