2012 Top 40

While I am taking a short vacation (from shooting clients) for the first 10 days of the year, I am doing some work! 🙂

Lots of reflection on the past year-finalizing everything for 2013. 2012 was an awesome year and as I am archiving, I wanted to share my favorite 40 client images. (You can view the 2012 newborn recap here.) Thank you so much for allowing me to create artwork for you! I adore my clients and look forward to seeing your families throughout 2013.

As I am reflecting and catching my breath, gearing up for the next 12 months, I have realized there are a few major changes that I have to make. In 2012 I shot 185 client sessions and while I loved them and wouldn’t trade one, I will not be trying to surpass, or even meet that number this year 🙂 I want to be able to give 100% as a mother and wife and also 100% to every client that commissions me-you deserve that! I plan to shoot about 50 less sessions and will only be accepting new newborn and first year series clients. So that means no children & family sessions (with the exception of existing LPK clients!)

Another change (or addition) is that I HAVE TO hire an assistant! I’ve been praying hard about this one…I interviewed and even tried an employee this year and it just didn’t work…it didn’t feel right.  I have to learn to let go of some things (super hard for this control freak!) and will have to trust this person 110%. It hasn’t happened yet, but I’m confident we are about to find each other 🙂

My menu has changed a little this year.  I planned to go strictly digital (that’s right, no prints!), but as I listened to clients and started to put things in motion to have all of my images delivered via instant download, I realized a lot of you still see the value of professional prints and want that option. So, while my menu now encourages you to purchase digitally, I am still offering prints in 2013. Session investments stay the same – but for those wanting prints, there is now a $200 gallery minimum.

A final change in 2013 – the most exciting – is that I will be offering small group workshops! These are not geared for professional photographers, but for moms who want to learn how to use their SLR’s and take great photos of their children. I have the first scheduled for February and it is fully booked!  I will open up another spring workshop in the coming weeks. Workshops will take place on Saturdays at Mocha Lounge (in the conference room.) I am limiting each to 5 attendees to ensure 1-on-1 attention. We will have 3 hours of class in the morning, break for lunch and then have a practice session together! If you are interested, you can email me at any time and I will put you on my list to contact first when I release dates. Aside from photography, teaching is my passion and I am SOOO excited to be able to fuse these two loves.  I have been blessed with great photographers and teachers in my life and I look forward to paying that forward and sharing what I have learned over the past 8 years.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for allowing me to pursue my passion-for all of your support and encouragement.

I wish you a blessed 2013.  – Kayte
